David Bromley/ Milton Greene, "Marilyn 19, " mixed media

2016

About the Item

This piece is an original mixed media work on paper by David Bromley, done in 2016. Bromley created this piece and the others in the collection in collaboration with Andrew Weiss Gallery, who owns the original negative of this image, to commemorate what would have been Marilyn Monroe's 90th birthday. This piece uses the imagery of a photograph shot by Milton Greene in 1955 that Bromley transformed into a whole new piece of artwork using a combination of hand painting, collage, and digital technology. This piece is hand signed and marked A.P., an artist proof, on torn archival acid free paper. It measures 23 x 21.75 inches and the framed dimensions are 32 x 30.5 inches.
