Stranger to Oneself Series

At a time when we are all alienated from ourselves; The contemporary interpretation of known tile motifs and geometric patterns with completely different mediums aims to question the bond between the subject and the object with the alienation of the material. A synthesis of Turkish and Islamic motifs and geometry, fed by various historical and cultural references; It examines the relationship between modernity and tradition, questioning their variable structures and concepts such as tradition and labor. In this series that encourages thinking about the nature of repetition, imitation and copying; the contradiction in the softness of the textile material over a hard material such as porcelain; When combined with the geometric patterns and colors in the motifs of the embroidery, it reveals the dilemma of being a "Stranger to Oneself". Each visually illusory piece resonates with artisanal traditions as well as the tendency of ceramics to push its conceptual and physical boundaries.
In this series, where I focus on eclectic works nourished by the relationship between society and tradition through different mediums, I question our social and personal memory. Visual propositions become an important part of my works in my works that I transform based on the perception of common memory.
