Domenick Capobianco (American, b. 1928), Double-Sided Chalkboard with Chalk Drawings, unsigned, in wood frame. 36" H x 61" W x 2.5" D. Provenance: From the Collection of the artist. Note: Domenick Capobianco is a graduate of Washington University at St. Louis, a Rutgers Fellow (1979), and a Guggenheim Fellow (1984/85). He was an educator and mentor at Rutgers University. Capobianco’s work can be found in collections worldwide, including: The Academie des Beaux-Arts, Ljubjana, Slovenia, The Albertina Museum, Vienna, Austria, and The M.V. Nesterov Museum, Ufa, Russia. Alongside his artist wife Elfi Schuselka (Austrian, b. 1940) he frequently exhibited with the famed 55 Mercer Gallery in New York.

Domenick Capobianco, born in Salerno, Italy in 1928, is an artist of significant international standing, recognized for his exceptional talent and dedication to artistic excellence. Primarily known for his post-modernist paintings and sculptures, characterized by their bright, eye-catching colors, his work aligns with the "Second New York School" of art. He was honored with the prestigious Rutgers Fellowship (1979) and the coveted Guggenheim Fellowship (1984/85). His influence extended beyond his own artistic practice through his impactful role as an educator and mentor at Rutgers University. Capobianco's works are celebrated globally, residing in the permanent collections of such esteemed institutions as the Académie des Beaux-Arts, Ljubljana, Slovenia; the Albertina Museum, Vienna, Austria; and the M.V. Nesterov Museum, Ufa, Russia. His artistic contributions have also been displayed at the Museum of Contemporary Art Skopje.
