  • Street Art Mixed Media Painting "Bang" Graffiti Style California Latino Artist
    By Aldo Valdez
    Located in Surfside, FL
Aldo Valdez is a San Francisco California based artist. He worked as Head Preparator at Paul Thiebaud Gallery and before that at Gagosian Gallery. These are earlier, one of a kind, mixed media paintings from his "Bang" series in a street art style. Street art is visual art created in public locations, usually unsanctioned artwork executed outside of the context of traditional art venues. Other terms for this type of art include "independent public art", "post-graffiti", and "neo-graffiti", and is closely related with urban art and guerrilla art. Common forms and media include spray paint graffiti, stencil graffiti, wheatpaste poster art, sticker art, street installations, and sculpture. Video projection and yarn bombing have also gained some popularity near the turn of the 21st century Germany's Berlin Wall (shown 1986) was a target of artists during its existence (1961–1989) As the 1980s progressed, a shift occurred from text-based works of early in the decade to visually conceptual street art such as Richard Hambleton's shadow figures. This period coincides with Keith Haring's subway advertisement subversions and Jean-Michel Basquiat's SAMO tags. Graffiti artist Haze has provided font and graphic designs for music acts such as the Beastie Boys and Public Enemy. Shepard Fairey's street posters of then-presidential candidate Barack Obama were reworked by special commission for use in the presidential campaign. Street art has become more accepted by the general public, likely due to its artistic recognition and the high-profile status of Banksy and other artists. This has led street art to become one of the 'sights to see' in many European cities. Paris, France has an active street art scene which is home to artists such as Space Invader, Jef Aérosol...

  • THE DAWN EXHALES
    By Misha Tyutyunik
    Located in New York, NY
Artist: MISHA TYUTYUNIK Title: THE DAWN EXHALES Medium: Acrylic spray paint, Birch, plexiglass, LED light strip Size: 44 x 36 inches - Each piece comes with a remote control to set the color of the light to your liking or it can be set to continuously rotate colors. This piece is beautiful when the light box is on and just as beautiful when it's turned off. - The Guiding Dark Series aims to draw parallels between ancient and modern art through process and content: 'First there was drawing. Gold, white, but mostly silver, against the black of paper. Then the concept to make the art emanate light. A window painting came to mind and how the light streamed between the line-work casting patterned shadows over the topography of a room. To reverse that effect was the idea: the light would shine through the lines, instead. To achieve the effect, a light box would be constructed of pine and birch, of plexi and steel, of stain and varnish, of light and darkness. In an immaculate tuxedo of black, the box would sit, shining a spectrum of color where its milk plexi shirt remained bare. Thus the drawings became light, stories contained in black, rotating doors...
