About the Item

Alcune lettere respinte al mittente is an original artwork realized in 1987 by Gianfranco Baruchello . Mixed media on paper (China ink and enamel on cardboard). Hand-signed and dated on the lower right corner: Baruchello 1987 . The dry stamp is also present. A white frame is included (cm 36.5 x 51). On the back of the work, hand-written in pencil: the title, the signature, the dimensions and the date of the realization of the work. This amusing contemporary artwork, depicting a sectioned female body with an opened book realized with shiny enamel colors, is in very good conditions. In full Baruchello's style, a clear and synthetic line delineates small drawings with a total white background, accompanied by the artist's annotations. This is a complex story of the absurd, containing symbologies connected to different cultural layers, psychoanalytic implications, and pungent paraphrases. We can see indeed a dissected female body with an opened book and several missives. Certificate of Authenticity by Fondazione Baruchello ID No. 191216112518. Gianfranco Baruchello (Livorno, 1924), an important contemporary Italian artist known for his experimentation with a variety of media. Baruchello’s primary focus has led to a lifelong investigation of the human mind through drawings and paintings of symbols, systems, and words. The 95 year old currently divides his time between Romeand Paris. Today, Baruchello’s works are held in the collections of The Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, and the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, among others.
