Gregory Watin approaches his art from an innovative perspective. He captures a photograph that becomes his initial sketch. This approach allows him to absorb every element that gives an identity to the urban landscapes he explores. Gregory Watin examines the structures marked by time, collects their distinctive features and assembles them to build unique atmospheres around these sites. His intention is to appropriate these places by breathing new life into them. To achieve this, Gregory Watin uses bright colors that breathe renewed energy. In a bold creative approach, he incorporates elements of nature such as wood, cardboard, paper, plexiglas and many others.
A central element of his work is the notion of urgency. Gregory Watin captures the idea in the present moment, transposing the spontaneous gesture onto the canvas, capturing the momentum of instant collages and the impulse of the moment. His contemporary poetry emerges from everyday materials, the soul of the city and human interactions. This exploration of urbanity shaped by various elements is neither sad nor doomed. On the contrary, under her meticulous gaze, she reveals a colorful richness and a lively rhythm, revealing an unsuspected beauty.
