About the Item
Artist Comments
From my series, States of Water United, this piece addresses overfishing in very subtle and undercurrent ways in beautiful blues and reds! Lot's of details and partially hidden textures and markings draw you in for a close look. This diptych is on two cradled wood panels; the top panel is 6x48 and the bottom panel is 24x48. The edges are blue and the piece comes ready to hang.
About the Artist
Leslie grew up in the desert and all the while lusted after the ocean. Her work is strongly influenced by her obsession with water and love of swimming. Nautical and aquatic motifs dominate her various series. To create her compositions, Leslie sources vintage photographs from libraries and museum stock collections to collage into her art. Her combination of photography and painting is intended to represent memories and emotions, respectively. Leslie brings together a wry humor, childlike joy, and an undertone of feminism to remind of us times past and offer us a roadmap for the future. Now a resident of San Francisco, Leslie is surrounded by water in her life and work.

Craighead describes his work as inhabiting a space between objective and nonobjective painting. The combination of these two worlds, serve as a matrix for what are essentially autobiographical paintings. He is interested in the symbolic potential of the objective world and the possibilities abstraction presents in suggesting the unknown. For a year in the mid-1990’s, circumstances forced Craighead out of his studio and he was left to work at a kitchen table on...Category
