Libby Ramage
Siblings, Original Painting

2019

About the Item

Artist Comments
Part of Libby's ongoing series of intricate collages inspired by relatable family memories and personal artifacts. She explains of this piece, "I transferred images of my mother and her brother along with other family members onto vocabulary cards from the early fifties. The cat and dog represent the relationship between these two siblings, who were very close in age. I used the vocabulary cards as a foundation to bring sound into the picture - as you read them, you hear the words in your head."

About the Artist
Libby Ramage infuses a playful and whimsical mood into her works. In fact, she credits the children she works with for greatly influencing her aesthetic. She often uses children’s abandoned work in her collages. Libby currently lives in New Jersey and finds inspiration in the work of Rauschenberg. She believes collectors should buy from the heart.
