Linda Stein, 1211 - Contemporary Art 3D Mixed Media Fabric Sculptural Collage
Linda Stein started her Knights of Protection series after she was forced to evacuate her New York downtown studio for a year post-9/11. Stein's Knights are shield-like forms, and they function simultaneously as defenders in battle, symbols of protection and emblems of pacifism.
In 2019, Stein re-conceived her Knights in a series called Knights, Revisited. 1211 includes her painted Knight figures collaged with mixed media, fabric and leather.
Stein's works are in more than 25 museum permanent collections, including Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Georgia Museum of Art, and Ringling Museum of Art in the US; Victoria Gallery & Museum and Manchester Art Gallery in the UK; Espoo Museum of Modern Art in Finland; and Konstmuseet i Skövde in Sweden.
