About the Item
Artist Comments
"Fragments of architectural spaces are abstracted and densely layered to suggest the accumulated construct of memory," explains artist Linnie Brown. Fractured geometric shapes appear through distinguished layers of teal, white, blue, red, and black. "Intricate grids and dots provide visual interest when viewed up close."
About the Artist
Linnie Brown is an artist based in Utah who creates mixed-media artworks using collage, paint, printmaking, and drawing. The significant places and locations from her life are a recurring theme throughout her portfolio. Linnie uses stencils that allude to significant places from her own life, including the floor plans of buildings and the boundaries of cities. She cuts these shapes out of paper for collage or traces them directly onto the panel or paper. She then builds the layers based on her intuition. To Linnie, every person is an accumulation of his or her past, and the memories of specific places such as former homes, schools, and cities, have a great influence on the way that person currently views and engages in life.

- The Traveler, Abstract PaintingBy Patrick O'BoyleLocated in San Francisco, CA
Artist Comments
"I've always been fascinated by what people see in my paintings," says artist Patrick O'Boyle. He displays an implication of a man traveling the deep void of brilliant hues. Part of his series of colorful abstracts with hints of recognizable subject matter that leaves the viewer room to explore. He combines techniques of collage and painting to unfold a dreamy and entertaining narrative.About the Artist
Patrick O'Boyle primarily paints in a studio, rarely using reference material other than his own thoughts and dreams. He always paints in a series of five - at the end of the fifth painting he revisits and reworks all of them until he feels they're complete. Using extra-long handles on his brushes, Patrick paints at a distance from the canvas so he can see the works evolve as a whole from the one color he starts with to the vibrant array at the end.Words that describe this painting: abstract, colorful, bright, texture, mixed media, mark-making, collage, people, abstract, people, mixed media artwork, purple

The combination of these two worlds, serve as a matrix for what are essentially autobiographical paintings. He is interested in the symbolic potential of the objective world and the possibilities abstraction presents in suggesting the unknown. For a year in the mid-1990’s, circumstances forced Craighead out of his studio and he was left to work at a kitchen table on...Category
