About the Item

Innere Harmonie, 2023 (inner harmony) Innere Harmonie (inner harmony) is part of Brazil-based German artist Miriam Loellmann’s Illusion and Isness series which uses the visual language of optical illusion and is featured by the combination of different materials to create tactile contrast and sounds. The artwork "Inner Harmonie" is inspired by the idea of the interplay and harmony of inner and outer spaces that the viewer traverses and thus experiences within himself. It is a play of forms that the artist skillfully creates. She changes the surfaces of the metal by grinding and polishing to create an inner form - apparent portals or doors that allow the viewer to look into a formless space that moves and changes the closer we get. In contrast, dyed leather parts are surrounded forming the outer form. These various textures of smooth and rough, soft and solid, come together to create a tactile prism of light and space. The artwork radiates lightness, clarity and calmness into the space and surprises the viewer again and again anew, as the work changes through movement. "I want to bring the viewer into a state of wonder, presence and clarity,“ describes Miriam Loellmann. "Innere Harmonie" was created in Rio de Janeiro in 2023, where the artist worked on the artwork for several weeks using simple techniques and craftsmanship. It is only finished with the wooden frame, which is also built by Miriam Loellmann. The artwork is signed on the back. Material: leather and stainless steel on plaster and plywood canvas, in wooden frame (hand painted in black and waxed) Size: 71.5 x 58 x 4.3 cms Weight: 4kg Year: 2023 The artwork is easy to hang. It requires a screw in the wall. The buyer receives a certificate of authenticity. About the artist: A main characteristic of German artist Miriam Loellmann's work is exploring and combining different materials to create tactile contrasts and sounds, using mainly geometric shapes and parts that are put together to form a vivid composition. Her work is based on simplicity and honesty. Providing access to sensory perception is a strong focus in her work. Miriam Loellmann works very craft with simple techniques, partly developed by herself. Geometric forms have been the artist's orientation and fascination for years. Her still young oeuvre is created almost exclusively in Brazil, Rio de Janeiro. The tropical and very vivid environment, also the Brazilian modern architecture and the organic forms of nature growing into the city, always stimulate her anew. Miriam Loellmann was born into an artistic family in Southern Germany and from an early age on she was used to traveling to distant countries and expanding her horizons. Particularly inspiring trips were, among others, Japan and the Sahara, as well as Brazil. Between 2007 - 2013 she was visiting art schools in Stuttgart (Freie Kunstschule), Lisbon (Faculdade de Belas-Artes/ Erasmus) and Berlin (KHB Weissensee), where she graduated in 2013. She worked partly as an assistant to the painter couple Heidi Foerster and Detlef Freudig in Stuttgart and Southern France. In the end of 2013, six month after graduating from art school in Berlin, she emigrated to Rio de Janeiro to devote herself fully to her path as an artist and to her personal development. In 2022 Miriam Loellmann began to use her living room as a 'private exhibition space' that invites an international and local audience to experience her body of work and dedicates herself to a more private, direct and independent style of work with direct focus on the customer. "I grew up in an environment where art, sculpture, ceramics and music were always an essential and formative part of life. This heritage of quality and richness I want to keep alive and pass on to other people", tells the artist.
