The plastic works that Pedro Peña Gil has carried out in recent years are a return to the attitude of those explorers who sought to extract the qualities of light. However, in his case, adding the element that presents it best: color. The experimentation of these works, like the early photographers, leads him to capture images of the world as a metaphor for anonymous Petri dishes. Once these spaces are located and portrayed, the files are digitally manipulated to extract the masses that suggest the places where color will be cultivated. After printing the image on different physical media such as wood, metal, or even acrylic, diluted colors are incorporated using various techniques to fill the gaps left by the dark masses. In the same voids that light would leave, watery forms of color are presented, evoking one of the peculiarities of light, which presents itself in different chromatic forms depending on the receiving material. In this case, the choice already determines the colors for each specific experiment. Some cases are monochromatic, while others feature a rich palette of vibrant colors. These colors move across the surface, clearly suggesting the perpetual movement of light, as it can never be frozen in time no matter how hard we try.
