Villa is a textile, installation and street artist. Her work primarily explores interconnection. Among her themes are the visionaries creating positive change throughout history, pop culture, social causes, and our reconnection with nature. Influenced by history, culture and human relationships in a fragmented post-digital world, the bold dynamism of her work is revealed in uncut thread. Sascha Mallon’s stoneware tea set, “After the Rain” features a hand-painted underglaze of soaring ravens and swallows on the central teapot. Each of the accompanying teacups (nestled on cashmere crocheted doilies) depict a different bird: a hummingbird, a raven, a blue tit and a cardinal. Sascha Mallon’s sculptural set relates to her narrative storytelling style and creates a conversation amongst the birds. The total set includes 5 hand-sculpted pieces: the central teapot and four teacups with saucers and crocheted doilies.
