This is a bright and joyful piece that is truly magical, for the child's form appeared through no intention of my own. It wasn't until the piece was complete and I stepped back from the easel that I even noticed the young child standing in front of its mother.
About the Artist
California-based artist Athena Rink paints Expressionist portraits of female figures that investigate the tension between spirituality and humanity. Throughout her portfolio, she uses strong black line work to underscore the forms within her free-flowing colors. She relies heavily on her own intuition to create, and often starts a piece with minimal or no planning. Every piece is a spontaneous expression of Athena’s passion, emotions, and energy.
