Artist Carey Parks illustrates an impressionist still-life of two sunflowers in a glass vase. The oblique elongated stems create a simple yet elegant display. "The sturdy look and the highly pigmented flowers, as well as the bold transparency of the stems in water made a strong composition," says Carey.
About the Artist
Carey Parks recreates the nostalgia of a family album in her familiar scenes. Some of her works actually take inspiration from her own photographs and places she has visited. She also creates up-close portraits and colorful landscapes. She frequently mixes paint directly on the canvas to create interesting color mixtures.
