Die Glucksritter is an original modern rare book illustrated by Hans Meid (1883 - 1957). Hans Meid was a major leader of impressionism, along with Max Slevogt, in Germany during the first decades of the twentieth century. A talented lithographer, etcher, engraver and painter, Hans Meid studied art in Karlsruhe under the direction of Trubner and Conz. His first artistic work dates from 1907 when he was employed as a designer for the firm Meissen, a porcelain manufacturer.
The book has been written by Joseph Freiherr von Eichendorff (1788 – 1857) was a German poet, novelist, playwright, literary critic, translator, and anthologist. Eichendorff was one of the major writers and critics of Romanticism. Ever since their publication and up to the present day, some of his works have been very popular in Germany.
