MEDIUM: Signed Model Sheet ARTIST: Virgil Ross SIGNED: Virgil Ross Measurements: 17 x 13.5 Virgil Ross was an artist, cartoonist, and animator best known for his work on the Warner Brothers Shorts. Early work was done for Charles B Mintz and Ub Iwerks studio then on to Walter Lantz, where he began working on developing Oswald the Rabbit and met Tex Avery. When Tex left for Looney Tunes and Merrie Mellodies, he took Ross with him. Ross spent about 30 years there, first under Avery's supervision, and then Bob Clampett. Ross then moved to Friz Freleng's unit after a year of animating for Clampett. Ross would spend his career with Friz for the rest of him time at Warner Bros., with him animating some of Freleng’s most renowned shorts. Throughout his career, Ross worked on all the great cartoon characters from Buggs bunny to Tweety to Taz and everything in between.
