Lynette Diergaardt
Bone (Namibian Identity through textiles), Silk Screen on Stretched Canvas

2018

About the Item

Bone (Namibian Identity through textiles), 2018. Silk Screen on Stretched Canvas. Born in Namibia, Lynette Diergaardt received her Bachelors of Art from the University of Namibia and her Masters in Textiles as a Fulbright Scholar at Kent State University in the USA. Diergaardt currently works as a lecturer at the University of Namibia in Arts Education. Diergaardt has exhibited in a few group exhibitions locally and internationally, and has had two solo exhibitions in Namibia, the first titled ‘Remembrance Through Cloth’ at the National Art Gallery of Namibia in 2016. Diergaardt’s dedication to the technologies of textile production has led her to recently begin a highly collaborative project which sees the artist examining Namibian identity through the lens of multiple subjects. The results include abstract screen prints and textiles which form just the start of a project that will grow and expand with time.
