Abstract Men Outdoor Large Sculpture, Brown Rusted Metal & Silver Aluminum
Located in ALCOY/ALCOI, ES
Passadís Here some fragments for one of his latest exhibition catalogue “I think that a work of art should puzzle viewers, make them reflect on the meaning of life” Antoni Tàpies Moisés Gil’s sculptures can be described as philosophical and conceptual, as they encourage individuals to reflect and act in a never-ending existential struggle, in the face of the multiple situations by which they are affected in contemporary societies. Art is always a form of communication: communication with and between the materials employed by the artist, giving rise to an aesthetic visual balance able to convey feelings, emotions and ideas, all of which are essential to a nonconformist commitment and worldview. Moisés Gil puts his representations of individuals in sculptural structures to better indicate the place of humans in the world, the place of contemporary individuals in their different environments, sometimes hostile; they are naked men...

Profil de Jacqueline, Pablo Picasso, Gold, Medaillon, Jewels, Design, Art Profil de Jacqueline Ed. 4/20 pcs + 2 EA 1956 Gold Medaillon D. 5.2 cm Stamped and numbered on the back : Picasso 4/20, Goldsmith's mark, 1412 Certificate of authenticity issued by Pierre Hugo. Provenance : Workshop of François et Pierre Hugo, France Private collection (acquired from the above) Only 30 medallions were created after the Picasso?s design. Each of them is numbered out of 20 and made of 23 carats yellow gold. François Hugo, great-grandson of the famous writer Victor Hugo, found his vocation in designing buttons for Coco Chanel and Christian Dior in the 1940s. His brother and sister-in-law, Jean and Valentine Hugo, were close friends of Picasso, Cocteau, Diaghilev, the Surrealists and many avant-garde artists in Paris, and François became part of their Salon gatherings. Picasso asked for his collaboration on the design and production of silver plates and later designs for gold jewellery too. Others, including Jean Cocteau and Max Ernst, followed his lead shortly after. In 1972, François' son Pierre joined the goldsmith workshop and added more names to his catalogue of designers, still specialising in limited, hand-made editions. This medallion is an excellent example of the collaboration between these most iconic of 20th Century artists and goldsmiths. "...In the period between 1956 and 1970 he had commissioned one of the most prominent goldsmiths working in France today, François Victor Hugo to execute a series of dishes, fruit bowls and medallions in gold and silver based on original models and designs? These objects are not posthumous "inventions" with motifs taken from various Picasso works; each was personally chosen, designed, seen, approved and cherished by Picasso himself during his lifetime ... " [1]. The original box and certificate by Atelier Hugo...

Visage en forme d'Horloge, Pablo Picasso, Silver, 1950's, Design, Sculpture
Located in Geneva, CH
Visage en forme d'Horloge, Pablo Picasso, Silver, 1950's, Design, Sculpture Ed.EA. 2/2 pcs Silver plate with the original wooden box. Engraved on the back. Certificate of authenticity issued by Pierre Hugo, Aix-en-Provence, dated 2019. In the 1950s, Picasso was already settled in the south of France, where he would meet his long-time friend, Douglas Cooper, a renowned art historian, who also remained there. During a sunny afternoon in La Californie, they would have endless conversation about the painter's works. It was among these passionate discussions on May 1956 that the silver plate of Pablo Picasso would appear as Douglas Cooper quoted : "There was a new group of these plates, just arrived from Vallauris, which Picasso and I were looking at one day at the end of May 1956 in La Californie. Little by little, these objects led our conversation to the magnificently gold and silver platters made in the 16th and 17th century in France, in Augsburg or in Venice, many with designs by famous artists [...] This is when, a few minutes later, Picasso suddenly said that he had himself thought that his own plates would be splendid if executed in silver" (D. Cooper, Picasso, 19 plats en argent, Paris, 1977, n.p). Cooper remembering about François Hugo's workshop, suggested this possible collaboration to Picasso and furthermore as the artist already knew him before the war. This goldsmith was already renown for the creation of religious objects in silver worked according to the repousse technique. On September 25, 1956, Picasso and Hugo met and discussed the different techniques for carrying out this project. Picasso will begin this series with the plate "Le dormeur" (the sleeper) which was a success and garnered the order of 4 other pieces of it. Picasso will keep ordering plates for ten years and will create besides these, a fruit bowl, a vase and several objects in solid gold. This project was initially for the personal use of the artist and his family. As Picasso did not consider authorizing the production of copies for sale, he would even refuse to lend them for any exhibition and prided himself on keeping them preciously privately for many years. It was only by 1967 that these artworks would be presented to the public in an exhibition at the Galerie Le Point Cardinal in Paris and in 1977 in a solo show in London titled "19 Silver Platters". Resulting from the audience appreciation, Picasso authorized their limited edition to Pierre Victor Hugo. Our art piece is part of a series of 23 silver plates of various subjects and diameters, each executed in an edition of 20 copies plus 2 artist proofs and 2 goldsmith proof. The silver plates modeled from the original ceramics of Vallauris are as follows: Dormeur ; Visage aux feuilles , Faune cavalier ; Visage aux mains ; Visage tourmenté ; Visage de faune ; Un poisson ; Profil de Jacqueline ; Tête de taureau ; Visage larvé ; Visage en forme d'horloge ; Visage géométrique aux traits ; Horloge à la Langue ; Jacqueline au chevalet...
