About the Item
OG Slick can be considered exactly that, an original gangster of the west coast graffiti scene. Starting off in the streets of Honolulu in the mid 80’s, OG Slick moved on to become one of the most acclaimed artists of his craft, fluidly moving from writing graffiti to designing album covers and street wear. Slick’s works have been featured as part of the opening of URBAN NATION Museum 2017.
Widely known for designing the so called ‘Mickey Hands’, two glove like hands forming the letters L and A which have become an unofficial symbol of Los Angeles pride, OG Slick, who refers to himself simply as Slick, has shaped the graffiti scene like almost no other. A graduate of Art Centre College of Design, Slick not only impacted graffiti as an art form but also gained a reputation by designing for street wear brands in the 90s, like Stussy and FUCT, as well as for designing toys. Now the head of ‘Big Dick’s Hardware’ where he distributes graffiti paraphernalia as well as his own clothing brand ‘Dissizit!’ While Slick is still active, painting murals in his iconic style somehow referencing the Mickey hands, he exhibits and sells his canvas and sculpture works around the globe.

As their work evolved, the artists shifted their focus from the subway to the studio and embarked on the production of a suite of drawings.
