Artist Comments
This is a bold, graphic, modern take on a group of workboats from the Chesapeake Bay region. Large blocks of color ; white, yellow, blues, violet and deep red ; create the main compositional elements. Only the water in the foreground is treated with any real detail, as blobs of color suggest the play of light on the surface. The sides of the canvas are painted brown, and it comes ready to hang.
About the Artist
Robert Hofherr avoids depicting a landscape exactly as he sees it or as the viewer might expect. Instead, he enjoys reimagining landscapes and painting his pieces indoors at a fairly rapid pace. The works of French Fauve artists Maurice de Vlaminck and Andr; Derain initially got him interested in painting, and also influenced his decision to not use grey in his works. During his free time he enjoys spending time with his kids, walking his dogs and taking road trips to out-of-way places in the mid-Atlantic region. He currently lives in Maryland.

Artist Rebecca Klementovich offers a vibrant mountainside view filled with multi-colored trees inspired by the Washington Valley of New Hampshire. "It is my favorite painting influenced by a hike on the mountain trail," shares Rebecca. "I grew up near the mountains and have spent so much time there. Artist Rebecca Klementovich paints expressionist views of the New England landscape. Merging her lifelong interest in fashion, she co-founded the group Femme Fatales of the North. "We are painting in gowns on the tops of mountains and slapping paint on canvases," says Rebecca. "We are an example of who the northern women are as artists." Her colorful palette and gestural style draw influence from her long career in the fashion world. Rebecca studied fashion illustration at FIT in New York and worked as a textile designer and art director for over twenty years. After leaving New York, she moved to northern New Hampshire near Mount Washington. "The mountains are nostalgic and lyrical, and this greatly affected my landscapes."
