About the Item
Bitna Jung is a multidisciplinary artist who focuses on painting. She weaves memories and desires in her subconscious. Especially, she interests in how childhood experiences shape adults through the relationship between parents and children. Sufficient caregiver support forms a foundation for resilience, while its absence may lead to independence but also feelings of helplessness. Her work reflects on the sanctuary and protection provided by parents and she discovers desire within them. She expresses her narrative through images she took in person, between boundaries of constructivism and abstract expressionism.
"In my recent paintings of children and caregivers, I am interested in showing a range of emotional relationships. I focus on gestures that can be read as supportive, loving, protective, detached, neglectful, or oppressive. By creating a dreamlike atmosphere, I hope to emphasize the emotional tone of these relationships and even hint at their future unfolding."
