About the Item

Daniel Kanow is a multidisciplinary visual and kinetic artist based in the scenic mountain town of Telluride, Colorado. Renowned for his expansive and thought-provoking landscapes, as well as his abstract works, Kanow’s art captures the interplay between form, color, and motion. Working with a diverse range of mediums—including acrylics, oils, canvas, wood, plexiglass, and even unconventional tools—he creates visually striking pieces that invite deep contemplation. Kanow’s artistic journey is deeply influenced by Eastern philosophy and spiritual traditions, which shape both his creative process and the themes that recur throughout his work. His exploration of concepts like impermanence, detachment, creation, and destruction infuses his pieces with a sense of fluidity and transformation. His art also embraces the beauty of imperfection, drawing inspiration from the Japanese philosophy of wabi-sabi, which celebrates the transient, imperfect, and incomplete nature of life. In addition to his own artistic endeavors, Daniel is the founder and owner of Break Through Your Art, an artist mentoring program designed to inspire and support individuals across various stages of their creative journey. Whether mentoring seasoned professionals, retirees seeking a new form of expression, or beginners eager to explore their artistic potential, Daniel offers guidance, accountability, and a nurturing environment for growth. His program focuses on unlocking the inherent creativity within each participant, helping them break through personal barriers and cultivate their unique artistic voice.
