Dorothy Gaziano builds layers of orange and cream over deep blues and black using oil paint and cold wax. The interplay of light and dark draws the viewer in, inviting a closer look at the nuanced textures beneath the surface. Abstract and versatile, the piece can be displayed in any orientation, allowing each viewer to find their own perspective.

About the Artist
Artist Dorothy Gaziano depicts abstract scenes primarily in cool colors, drawing inspiration from the natural world. “I never know how a painting will turn out; I work until the physical piece matches the emotional idea I envisioned,” says Dorothy. Growing up in New England, she moved from the city to the Boston suburbs during her teenage years, where she enjoyed proximity to both beaches and mountains. Beginning her artistic career in folk art, she spent many years with a publishing company that distributed prints of her work. Today, Dorothy splits her time between a studio in Florida and a workspace in South Carolina, where she listens to music while painting. Outside of her creative hobbies, Dorothy enjoys walking, biking, and caring for her air plants.
