"Our decades of disregard for Mother Nature have begun to catch up with us in climate change," says artist Karen Hansen. "One of the harrowing results has been an increase in the frequency and intensity of wildfires. While they are devastating, they are hauntingly mesmerizing in their movement and color." The glowing oranges and free-flowing shapes in this abstract painting draw inspiration from the forces of fire.

About the Artist
Karen’s abstract paintings are best described as an exploration in color. Often monochromatic, her work is a meditative and serene improvisation in the movement and depth of paint. Whether executed in earthy shades or vibrant tones, each painting evokes a different mood for the viewer’s contemplation.
