Jute Nebula - 3D Abstract Expressionist Mixed Media on Cardboard
Abstract in bold red, yellow and sky blue on a soft black background, by California-based artist Ricardo de Silva (Brazilian, 20th Century). The cardboard has been intentionally torn and painted in various places of the artwork. A rectangular piece of jute burlap is affixed in the center of the splattered adding even more texture to this mixed media piece.
Signed and dated at the bottom left corner, "R. de Silva 95."

From a collection of Ricardo de Silva's work and memorabilia. DeSilva was a gallery owner, first in Santa Barbara in the 1960's and 70's, then in San Jose in the 1980's. He was dedicated to promoting the work of talented upcoming artists, including Kogyo and Hasui Kiyochika, Robert Frame, Jim Stuckenberg, Alice Robertson Carr, Deborah Eve Alastra, Russell Kelly, and Diana Mark.
