About the Item

Oil on Canvas Mangan has developed a very distinctive figurative portrayal. His works involve unique human forms in a variety of backgrounds. These can be at the racetrack, the train station, or at the beach. His work has been held at the Metropolitan Museum of art, and also at the Royal Scottish Academy. In this work the subjects he has chosen are at the racetrack. And they are depicted in his own style. It is very different to see a sporting scene painted like this but Mangan does it in a very well-mannered fashion while still sticking to his regular way of painting. Signature bottom right. Incised.
