The diptych “The Glow of the Abyss” consists of two paintings created in different years — one in 2023 and the other in 2025. It was intentionally made across different periods to compare the inner life states that shaped me during those years. This series explores the processing of the inner self, where each pearl inside a shell symbolizes an experienced stage of life, and the open shell signifies a readiness to share it. “The Glow of Each Pearl” reflects the idea that our inner world can be revealed both in the depth of darkness and on the surface in the light, or it can remain hidden in the depths, not allowing others to become part of one’s inner universe or physical space. Color plays a special role in this series: blue, red, and burgundy tones, along with soft white and pastel shades, create a balance between cold and warm. Red is primarily about love — the love we radiate toward others but often forget to share with ourselves. The sky and the depth of the sea can hold countless shades, from bright to gray, and it depends on us which color we choose to live through on a given day, what we want to express to the world and to people. This series reveals me as a person — someone who strives to share thoughts, dreams, lived experiences, and express love to those who seek change.
On the back of one of the paintings, there is the silhouette of a turtle. I don’t know why it was painted there, but for me it has become a reminder that everything is possible, and that sometimes we need to move very fast, while at other times — at the slow pace of a turtle. This has become one of the symbols of my personal rethinking in life.
In general, the abstract way of self-expression described here encourages maintaining a connection between the artist and those who seek to engage with art and experience this connection together with any creator. It is a special bond that carries on into the lives of future generations.
