About the Item

Several Anastasia Kurakina's artworks have been included into the Vatican Museums collection since 2017 She has exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery in London at bp portrait award exhibition. artist: Anastasia Kurakina original painting on paper one of a kind hand signed Anastasia Kurakina lives and works in London. Her art for her is an adventure, a magic process in which she takes part as a mirror that ventures to reflect and eternize the essence of the deepest and the most hidden moves of human's characters. "I dedicate my time to explore and analyse human emotions through art. Whether it is a live portrait or a surreal scene, a depiction of a naked body, each artwork begins with the eyes and some rough, black outlines. They determine the image, which then gradually emerges by itself. It's like walking in the fog, and the image gradually becomes clearer. The fact that I don't know exactly what will happen makes it fascinating. I only see myself as a participant in a creative process. The colors also arise intuitively and are dictated by the state of mind of the person I depict. I pay attention to the smallest details and emotional reactions, and try to translate them into an individual portrait. That is why I prefer painting from live. Thanks to that psychological analysis, my paintings show emotions that people never experience in the mirror or through a photo. What they try to hide, I dig up and make visible. I try to get to the essence of their being. While that might scare some people, there's no need for that. Because as Picasso said:" in the end, every artist first and foremost portrays himself.”I experiment with the vibrant power of colours and try to leave academic knowledge behind. I play with the framing, which makes my characters seem to want to escape from their frame. Every new work arises instinctively, and is always a new discovery for me too. If other people experience the same emotions afterwards, then that is pure magic." Kurakina“s works are a personal interiorization that matches the search for a deeper meaning, beyond visible reality. Her”s is a desire to go beyond the pure representation of reality, a need to tell something that goes beyond the external aspect, that something that speaks of the inner part of those who are portrayed.
