HELMUT KOLLER Born 1954, Hartberg, Austria, Resides Palm Beach, Florida and Vienna, Austria Helmut Koller is mainly known for his colorful, bold and festive paintings of animals which are collected on four continents, America, Europe, Asia and Africa. Koller grew up in the beautiful Austrian countryside. After completing his training as a photographer and a brief professional detour to Germany he became the official photographer for the Vienna State Opera back home in Austria. For seven years he photographed superstars like Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, Leonard Bernstein and Rudolf Nurejev. Within that period Helmut Koller co-wrote, photographed and designed his first book called WOMEN OVER 30. Two more books followed. ELEKTRA, about the movie production of the Richard Strauss opera and OPERA LIVE, a coffee table book about the Vienna State Opera. Feeling confined in Europe and eager for the ambition of America, Koller moved to Manhattan then Palm Beach, Florida where he now resides. In 1987, with his first collection of paintings, "Homage to Egon Schiele", Koller made the transition from photography to painting. This large scale 76" x 90" mixed media canvas painting by XVALA features a Basquiat-style large red creature predominantly placed on the canvas against a light blue background. Other colors include varying blues, golds and black. Acrylic paint, spray paint and oil stick were used on a linen canvas. XVALA's art illuminates the hidden fallout spawned from our high tech Internet age. His 'Fear Google' campaign exposed the decay of privacy and 'No Delete' used hacked nude celebrity photos to highlight loss of control over personal information. This "Cow" painting vibrantly pops with hyper-realistic color. It depicts a highly detailed cow standing in against a blue background. Could it be an empty room? Could it be the sky? There is a very playful atmosphere as the cow is holding a dandelion gone to seed and the wonder is whether it will make a wish and blow. Its awash in a cartoonish blue with clouds and cloudy farm animals. This pairs with the lamb painting but is sold separately. Renata Palubinskas was born in 1968 in Kaunas, Lithuania, at the time still in the Soviet Union as the Lithuanian Soviet Socialist Republic. She received her diploma in Fine Art and Restoration from St. Zukas Technium of Applied Arts in 1989. After working at the M.K. Ciurlionis State Museum of Art, she emigrated to the United States in the 1990s, basing herself in Detroit. Renata's work rethinks historic iconography while intentionally addressing the modern world through a new perspective. The characters in her paintings are often caught between the struggle of good and evil. That struggle represents the choice of trying to obtain immediate gratification or realization of the self, and the haunting life experiences with latent possibilities for death. Renata uses schematic compositions with purposefully positioned figures and other visual elements. To attract attention to the most significant figures, she often ornate their garments with intricate patterns.
