Ashoke Mullick
Ashoke Mullick is considered one of the leading painters from the Bengal School of Art. Mullick combines a sense of satire with contemporary conditions. His paintings focus strongly on the ordinary man and the contradictions he faces. He uses colors like greens and blues to depict a largely urban India. His paintings also include a strong focus on the ordinary person – more specifically womankind and the contradictions it faces. Mullick likes to portray the contemporary age where people have lost the human touch and have become increasingly impersonal in their behaviour. As a painter, he touches on these facets where customs are not being followed and the link between now and the past is getting hazy. He's carved out a niche for himself with his juxtaposition of real and unreal imagery infusing his canvases with bold, vibrant imagination and certain energy, which is extremely appealing. Mullick has been painting for more than 30 years. He has participated at several art camps and the workshops, like the workshops of Found object and Metamorphosed object at the Max Mueller Bhavan, Kolkata in 1997, and International Artists Workshop by Kalakriti Art Gallery, Hyderabad in 2006 and 100 years of Cellular Jail, at Andaman & Nicobar Islands in 2006 and many more. His works are in the collection of several art connoisseurs in India and abroad.
- Mother & Child, Figurative, Acrylic on Canvas by Contemporary Artist "In Stock"Located in Kolkata, West BengalFeroz Khan - Untitled Acrylic on Canvas, 55 x 42 inches About Artist : Mohammad Feroz Khan was born in 1978 and brought up in Delhi. He have not undergone any formal training in Art but gained experience first from his Father Late Mohd Ibrahim Khan, a Banner Painter. Subsequently, under the able tutelage of renowned Artist Late Manjit Bawa (Guruji - his Mentor in Art) he studied and learned Art for 14 years. Bawa took much care to train him to use brush and pastels on a variety of subjects, also guided him to savor the beauty and nuances of Texture. Then, as an initial step, his Guru guided him through a maze of depictable visuals scattered over the all too familiar places of Delhi. He asked him to draw inspiration from real life. Deferential to my master’s academic style of figuration, he soon convinced his guru of deft brushmanship and ability to create naturalistic human and animal forms, avoiding explicit linear delineation, while projecting solid masses. He chose to see the ordinary things and scenes that make up for our everyday life. He look at the little details of a tailor working on a manual sewing machine or a street-side vendor selling a cool drink on a hot summer day or rickshaw pullers or beggars and various other street vendors – denizens of the city’s poorest quarters. It is the sheer simplicity of each of these activities that appeals him and is reflected through his Canvas. - Not as straight forward as you thinkBy Jenny DayLocated in New Orleans, LARetreating from the stress and chaos of the last year, I created another landscape; populated by an army of friendly creatures. Here the burdens of coronavirus, climate change, and political division are dismissed by hot pink kittens that arc gracefully through meter showers and owls that bury into beds of daffodils. In this place worry is edged out by the fantastic and mystical snails trail neon candy canes through the scorched earth. The apocalyptic is supplanted by the surreal and the allegorical. Anxiety followed me. The escapist reflects and distorts its shadow world, the real, a funhouse mirror...Category
