About the Item
Artist Comments
I wanted to capture the moment when a bird feels the freedom of flying in the air. The tones remain modern in black and white. There is movement found in the shape of the feathers. The background is painted in gold paint.
About the Artist
Colette Wirz Nauke gathers inspiration from her surroundings and memories and fuses them with her imagination. She has been greatly influenced by Impressionism and Post-Impressionism, especially techniques used by Monet, Cezanne and Bonnard. She tries to use similar approaches in her own work. Colette spends her summer traveling throughout the US and abroad in search of her next muse. When she's not painting, she enjoys visiting art museums and going to parks in search of cherry blossoms in bloom. She currently lives in New York.

- Sleeping Under the Stars, Original PaintingBy Andrea DossLocated in San Francisco, CA
Artist Comments
What do sleeping dragons dream of? Starry nights and moonlit trees Castles tall and oceans deep Dancing on the whispering wind And flying to where the sunlight bendsAbout the Artist
Andrea Doss discovered that there were stories hiding in her paintbrush, and has been bringing them to life with her art ever since. Her paintings capture the essence of children’s books and lullabies. Andrea’s love for fairytales and storytelling is evident in her personification of animal friendships and activities. Adventurous, sweet, and whimsical are appropriate words to describe the artist’s fanciful characters. Andrea lives in Texas and works from her home, always closely supervised by her opinionated one-eyed cat named Poe.Words that describe this painting: dragon, storybook art, kids art, stars, night sky, nursery art...

- Mixed MarriageBy Maureen O'Hara UreLocated in Salt Lake City, UT"Mixed Marriage" by Maureen O'Hara Ure, mixed media on panel, 16 x 24 inches. Relying on sturdy panel to hold up to months, sometimes years, of revisions, O'Hara Ure slowly builds up an image, obsessively laying down marks in thin, sanded layers of paint, ink, and pencil to create a uniquely smooth, almost polished texture distinctive to her style. When a panel returns to her studio from a show, she may begin to tinker with the image, perhaps first sanding out or painting over just a section. "Often as not, I keep going and start all over, using gesso to erase any memory I have of the painting." "For over fifteen years, all of my major projects have begun with my drawing overseas in museums and at historical sites. I returned to my studio and set about using some of the raw ideas in my travel sketchbooks to begin developing new work, taking liberties with the art-historical material I had collected. The exhibit of new paintings on panel at Phillips Gallery...Category
