"9 Koi 23" is a complex work of koi fish swimming underwater filled with light and brilliant color painted in a lush and fluid style bordering on abstraction. Fish are in shades of orange, red, yellow, and white. The water is a rich combination of blues and greens. Note: Blue color of water in image is slightly off, difficult to photograph, actually more muted, can send additional images upon request.
An extraordinary colorist with an exuberant and gestural style, this painting sparkles and Holt's expressive style is ideally suited to the flickering light, color, and movement one associates with koi swimming underwater.

Linda Holt has been painting koi fish underwater since the 1990s and more recently small and large-scale abstractions as well. With her love of paint, process, and intense color, the abstractions are a logical evolution of Holt's more figurative work, and the 8" x 8" and 30" x 30" abstractions are also considered studies for larger works that can be commissioned in any size. Her ability to replicate such complex gestural works in a bigger scale is remarkable.
Nationally recognized for many years as one of the foremost painter of koi this parallel body of abstractions are now considered on par with her figurative works and has resulted in numerous exhibitions which feature both aspects of the artist's interests.
Linda Holt was raised in Philadelphia and lived in England, Alabama and Virginia before attending the Paris American High School and graduating from Skidmore College with a BS in fine art in 1970. She received an MFA in Painting from the University of Pennsylvania where she studied with Neil Welliver. Holt’s paintings have been seen in 19 one-person exhibitions, over 50 group exhibitions, and in addition to numerous private collections, works are included in many public collections including the Wichita Center for the Arts, Wellington Management, the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, Fidelity Investments, Mass General Hospital, and the Seaport and Reef Hotels.
Selected reviews include articles in “The Boston Globe,” “Art New England,” and the “Houston Chronicle.” Holt was awarded the Nathaniel Saltonstall Purchase Prize in Drawing, has been a Trustee and Visiting Artist at Montserrat College, a Guest Critic at FIT in New York, and a Lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania.
Linda Holt resides in Boston and has been represented by the Beth Urdang Gallery since 1995.

After studying in Saumur and St-Germain-en-Laye, he joined Brianchon's studio in 1949 at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He was awarded the Prix Florence-Blumenthal in 1952 and the Grand Prix de Rome in 1953. He lived at the Villa de' Medicis from 1954 to 1957. Brasilier's paintings are populated by beautiful, elegant women, respectable nudes and high-class gentlemen and are set in pleasant Val-de-Loire backgrounds, resplendent with landscapes and charming towns. Revealing the distant inspiration of Gauguin and the well-assimilated influence of certain other artists, Brasilier depicts a peaceful, comfortable world, free from care, in a very simple, stylish manner, with delicate harmonies bathed in accommodating sunlight. Brasilier took part in group exhibitions from 1956, including many in Paris: at the Salon de la Jeune Peinture; regularly at the Salon d'Automne; at the École de Paris exhibition at the Galerie Charpentier (1954-1957); at the Paris Biennale (1961 and 1963); and at the Salon Comparaisons (1961-1964). Mainly, however, he showed his work in solo exhibitions, including: at the Galerie Drouet in Paris (1959); at the Galerie Weil in Paris (1960 and 1964); at the David B.
