About the Item

Nelson de la Nuez Famous: Mickey 48" x 48" Mixed Media One of a Kind Mickey brought to contemporary street culture by Nelson using pop-art techniques. As one of the world's most collected, significant pop artists today, Nelson De La Nuez is a born iconoclast. Using his unique juxtaposition of pop culture and surrealism, and reflecting on America’s rich culture and history, De La Nuez has created works of art that are considered timeless. He began his career in the early 1980's and became recognized for his original insight and commentary on social and cultural life. Incorporating iconic pop culture imagery, such as Monopoly, board games, pin ups, Chanel, he developed his visual language taking pop art far beyond its origins. Listed on the “Who’s Who List of the Most Collected Artists of Our Time,” his works are original, bold and outspoken. The artist is known for his distinctive, trademarked style called “Art on the Edge,” which is creating art on all sides of the canvas and wood. De La Nuez’s artwork is acquired by the most prominent private collectors, celebrities, corporations, and art connoisseurs, as well as purchased for the leading auction house, Sotheby's. His art has been featured on countless television shows, including, to name a few: "The Fabulous Life of," “The Latest in Billionaire Home Décor,” “Inside Edition,” MTV “Cribs,” HGTV “Designer’s Challenge,” E! “Celebrity Favorites," “TMZ: Michael Jackson’s Final Art Purchase,” "America's Next Top Model," "mansion interior design", HGTV's "Extreme Homes," "Rich Kids of Instagram," and a very wide variety of many Bravo TV shows. He was the official 70th Anniversary artist for the Warner Bros. Wizard of Oz film where he created original artwork for the celebration of the iconic movie. One of which, “Ditching Dorothy,” was forever immortalized on a limited edition sheet of US postage stamps. His work sells out consistently at such prestigious shows as Art Basel Miami, Art Hamptons, Art Southampton, Art Aspen, Art Singapore, Art Houston and worldwide at his galleries. The art values continue to increase every year according to demand, for which the artist can barely keep up. He works closely with very specific charity partners close to his heart (especially animal causes) and has raised significant amounts of money for them with auctions, as well as lending his appearance walking red carpets each year at the events.
