- StardustBy Johnathan BallLocated in Toronto, ONOriginal Hand Signed by Johnathan Ball Johnathan Ball has been working for more than 15 years to establish a style of painting that transforms the language of the street into a hybrid form of abstraction and urban realism. From the outset, JBall has sought to interpret his experience of cities that have served as crossroads in his life, from Toronto to New York to Miami the urban experience is a central theme in his work. Not always bound to one genre he also works from iconic images and film stills while purposefully engaging with the rich history of painting since the rise of abstraction in the 1950s. His work provides markers of time, engages the viewer with mood and line tracing the painting providing an artist lead tour of the work. JBall is also well known for his sculptural work. Sculpting anatomical forms using them as an entirely new canvas for his painting. His sculptures are an accent to his painted works, sometimes bringing levity. JBall is an active muralist working with community programs such as Toronto’s Street Art initiative, as well as private commissions. His notable patrons include The Mayor of Toronto, Universal Music, Blattner energy, and IMT Corporation. JBall (born Toronto, ON 1983) studied at York University, Toronto, where he received his Bachelors in Fine Arts degree, graduating with honors. He was also the recipient of the Ontario Arts Council emerging artist award. Johnathan is currently represented by the Liss Gallery...Category

$10,000 - Fiber painting: 'Nei torrenti di montagna'By Federica Patera and Andrea Sbra PeregLocated in New York, NYThe words used in the artworks come from the indo-european root √Ker, which contains a bunch of auspicious meanings, which can be associated with vibration and rhythm and, together, with the flesh as well as with the head and the heart, developing a semantic collaboration that becomes a story. The heart and, on the other side, the brain, by vibrating, make the energy they generate flow in the flesh and animate it. The duo was officially born in 2017 with the RAR project, which focuses on the value of the analogy in literature. At the heart of their investigation is the dynamic that leads reading to become writing, and other way the user to become a creator, a maker, mixing roles. The exchange that is established guarantees the transmission, that it goes beyond repetition and finds its completion in transformation. The eternity of an experience, whatever it is (physical, material, emotional, intellectual), is measured by its capacity to be an eternal breeding ground for discovery and knowledge. Their work was exhibited in solo shows by art galleries, such as Raffaella De Chirico Contemporary Art in Turin and Manuel Zoia Gallery in Milan, and in Art Fair such as ArtVerona and WOP in Lugano (CH). In 2021, they were finalists in the Cramum Award. Between October 2022 and January 2023, they took part in the World Textile Biennale – Italian Act, a series of three exhibitions curated by Barbara Pavan. In January 2023 they attended their first group show in New York at the Ivy Brown Gallery.Category
