Edward H. NiemannView of an Aquaduct and a Castle. Richmond, Yorkshire
About the Item
Edward Niemann Junior
A superb example of Edward Niemann's work. The piece is housed in its original detail and is of a quality that would be more akin to his father's hand.
It is clearly signed on the bottom right and the painting is of Richmond in North Yorkshire where his family lived and regularly painted. Many of his paintings are of traditional landscapes with pathways but the all encompassing majesty of this painting makes this a standout work of art.

Edward Niemann Junior
Exhibited 1863 – 1867
His paintings, often very large, illustrate every phase of nature. He often painted the scenery of the Thames and of the Swale near Richmond in Yorkshire. His father Edmund Niemann had a very similar style, and their work is often confused.
He became a painter of landscapes, angling subjects and marines.
Though he especially enjoyed painting the scenery of the Thames and of the River Swale, near Richmond in Yorkshire, many other areas of the British Isles are covered in the corpus of his work.
