Emmanuelle Vroelant
"The salty air of roscoff" abstract acrylique oxidation on linen canvas 100x80cm

2021

About the Item

This idea came to me during the period of confinement and COVID, when I had the chance to breathe a beneficial, tonic, iodized and refreshing air. It was while rejoicing at each inspiration on the roscopic coast that I decided to explore this sensation, without resorting to figurative but rather seeking to capture the very essence of the air. A large area was not necessary to transmit this experience. I felt the need to incorporate structure, evoking the mineral and oyster shells, so I added a protective mesh at the beginning. This relief proved ideal for structuring this painting. It is not a soothing air, but a structuring, dynamic and invigorating air. As for the colors, the choice of blue, white and gray imposed itself on me, because these shades evoke the brightness of this particular air. Each shade has been meticulously selected to reflect the clarity and liveliness of this unique sensory experience.
