"Oysters in Black" 6 black white and gold oysters on black with resin finish.

About the Item

“Spending a lifetime of summers on Martha's Vineyard my work has evolved into natural forms of coastal scenes. My connection to the island developed a deep concern with natural forms life-plants, shells, hills, trees, stones and water. My paintings create a path of self-discovery. Reassembling pieces together from memory and imagination using textures, patterns and transparent layers make the viewer question how far reality can be pushed before it will yield the powerful essence of what is seen.” Anne Harney is a Boston-based painter who received her BFA with Honors in painting from Mass College of Art and Design in 2011. Awards include George Nick Award, Marcia Lloyd Award, Book Award, Vermont Studio Center Artist Grant and Residency 2016, 2019. Anne is a member of the National Association of Women Artist, NYC and MA. Sowa Artist Guild, Fenway Artist Studios, and Provincetown Art Association and Museum. The Eisenhauer Gallery has 25 years of experience shipping artwork around the world.

  • "Women's Stories" mixed media painting of three black women, orange flowers
    By Janice Frame
    Located in Edgartown, MA
"As an African-American artist in today’s world, I embody the vast differences found in our collective backgrounds. I view them as cultural assets. We are always self discovering and these self discoveries take us in surprising directions. We must gain strength from what we learn from each other as well as listen to that persistent, ever present, intuitive self. The connection of one’s own rich heritage and person growth will travel into the inevitable and critical connection between African Americans and Africa. These connections are rich and very important. They Exist! My work, I hope, will serve as a creative connection between the African diaspora and western culture. It is this connection that cause my creative forces to react." Janice Frame...
