Beau Gabriel (born in 1992 in New York) is a painter who lives and works in London. After graduating from Yale with a degree in Russian literature, he settled in Paris as a lawyer before turning to the visual arts. He began his career as an artist by studying at Les Ateliers de Sèvres, before earning a master's degree at London's prestigious Royal College of Art in 2019. His works put into perspective the representation of women in art history, recalling the Italian maestros of the 16th century with a resolutely young and contemporary eye. Gabriel creates compositions that seem to belong to both eras at once. The lascivious poses of the women he paints are reminiscent of the behavior of Instagram influencers, while the bold, steamy colors of his canvases invite contemplation.
