Charles Warren Mundy
Charles Warren Mundy worked for 22 years as a sports illustrator, and in the late 1980s, became a full-time painter of landscapes, still life and figurative works. Among the artists, he credits as inspiring to him are John Singer Sargent, Edgar Payne and Guy Rose. He grew up and continues to live in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he was raised as a member of the Evangelical United Brethren Church and won a college basketball scholarship, eventually graduating from Ball State University in Muncie. Full of energy, Mundy developed a plan that combined his interest in art with sports and created photo-realistic depictions of sports figures. In the early 1980s, he became the official illustrator for Bob Knight, legendary basketball coach at Indiana University, and he also had contracts for illustration with the Pro Golfers Association, the United States Golf Association, and the National Basketball Association. From those years, his artwork is in many collections, including the Indianapolis 500 Museum. However, he tired of this activity, finding it to be formula painting and less-than-challenging because it lacked spirit. So in 1994, Mundy enrolled in workshops taught by established artists such as Scott Christensen and Dan Gerhartz, and their encouragement and examples freed his creativity, especially for plein air painting. After several of these workshops, he and his wife Rebecca went to France, and since then, they have traveled extensively, including to East Coast locations such as Gloucester and Rockport as well as back to Europe.
In 1998, the couple went to the Rocky Mountains to "recharge his battery" and get distant, panoramic views. Many of Mundy's previous works had been small — six to eight inches — but here he did larger canvases, some of them with dimensions of four feet or bigger. In 2003, CW Mundy earned the status of Master Signature Member from the Oil Painters of America. In 2005, Mundy earned the Award of Excellence for Master Signature Members at the 14th Annual Oil Painters of America National Show.

Presented in a mat. Signed and dated "D. Crispo 79" upper left corner. Image size, 29"H x 23"W. “I am an abstract journalist of the landscape and a choreographer of the dance of the mind, eye and hand. The plastic, the decorative, the horrible and the serene that pepper the visual landscape of the present time challenges the artists who address the age of information. I consider myself a global artist, not an American artist. This galactical view is the true basis of my work–Nature is my teacher–the Master. I’m the apprentice.” –Dick Crispo Dick Crispo, born in New York City on January 13, 1945, has resided on the Monterey Peninsula since 1955. An award winning artist, Crispo has studied at the Carmel Art Institute under John Cunningham and Sam Colburn...Category

The sitter in the portrait is a middle-aged man looking slightly downwards, wearing a collared shirt. This piece is completed in a tan and green palette, creating a somber feeling. Of particular note are the confident, thick brushstrokes - each one is well-placed in the modernist style. Similar in some ways to Picasso's portraits. Signed "Joan Tidwell" on verso Unframed. - "Love Wild" - Contemporary Pop Surrealist Portrait with Cute Odd Little MonsterBy Natasha LelencoLocated in FISTERRA, ES"In 'Love Wild,' Natasha Lelenco engages in a playful and stylistic exploration with clear references to the recurring portraits of the early Renaissance, such as those by Giorgione, from a contemporary perspective and with the technical precision that characterizes her work. In this piece, she presents a character with a certain sexual ambiguity, lost in thought, snuggled up with a small creature, a little monster, and sporting tattoos on the fingers that read 'Love' and 'Wild,' a nod to Charles Laughton's famous film 'The Night of the Hunter...Category

- SOCIAL Losas "I"Located in Natchez, MSThis work is from the artist's SOCIAL series, based on the iconic Cuban magazine of the same name. Conde, uninterested in painting his home town of Havana as it currently is, hearkens back to the heydays of Cuba, time of SOCIAL magazine. Conde has revived SOCIAL magazine, if only in his head, and is creating 240 new covers for the magazine. He will symbolically close the magazine on the date of the revolution. The artist often uses gold, silver and palladium leaf in the works to symbolize the power and wealth which Cuba once possessed. In this work, SOCIAL "I", a stylized woman from a bygone era has plucked the silver I from the word SOCIAL, in the background the pattern is representative of the ever present Cuban tiles.Category
