About the Item
Christiane Bouret is a painter that works with oil paint to create figurative artworks and portraits, and the present painting is an excellent example of her work. In the image, we see a woman in equestrian clothing in repose. Bouret's painterly approach leaves the edges of the canvas only touched by feathery lines of paint, leaving her work with the softness often associated with American Impressionists like William Merritt Chase. Even in this example, she also takes on some of the abstract gestural brushstrokes of Willem de Kooning.
