Eyitayo Alagbe
After a Long Day 3

2023

About the Item

The artwork depicts a man in a state of relaxation, surrounded by a serene sitting room ambiance. The soft, cool tones of the blue sofa provide a tranquil backdrop, contrasting with the white top worn by the central figure. The choice of colors creates a sense of calmness and invites viewers to unwind, symbolizing a temporary escape from the demands and pressures of daily life. The man's posture and facial expression reveal a deep longing for solitude. With his legs spread, his reclined position exudes a sense of ease and detachment from the outside world. Alagbe's meticulous attention to detail ensures that every element in the artwork contributes to the overall atmosphere of seclusion. The surrounding space appears ethereal and dreamlike, with plants, books, blurred lines, and soft edges, amplifying the sensation of being transported to an alternate reality. The chosen quote by Eugene O'Neill, "Everything looked and sounded unreal. Nothing was what it is. That's what I wanted - to be alone with myself in another world where truth is untrue and life can hide from itself," resonates profoundly with Alagbe's creation. The artwork becomes a visual embodiment of O'Neill's words, illustrating the artist's desire to escape the confines of reality and seek introspection in a world where truth is malleable and life can momentarily conceal its harshness. "After a Long Day" challenges viewers to contemplate the importance of solitude and introspection in a world often dominated by noise and superficiality. Alagbe's use of a single figure in a spacious, otherworldly environment encourages viewers to reflect on their own need for personal space, a place to disconnect and find respite. By creating this meditative atmosphere, the artwork becomes a catalyst for self-discovery, urging viewers to embrace their own inner journeys. Alagbe's "After a Long Day" transcends cultural boundaries and speaks to the universal longing for solitude and introspection. In an increasingly interconnected world, the artwork serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of self-reflection, enabling viewers to connect with their own emotions and aspirations. The piece captures the essence of a shared human experience, inviting individuals from diverse backgrounds to find solace in the universal desire for personal connection and understanding. Eyitayo Alagbe's artwork "After a Long Day" presents viewers with an invitation to immerse themselves in a world of introspection and solace. Through his skillful composition and the inclusion of Eugene O'Neill's profound words, Alagbe provides a visual sanctuary where truth becomes fluid, and life temporarily hides from itself. The artwork serves as a reminder of the importance of finding moments of respite, and the universal longing to be alone with oneself in an unreal world. It encourages viewers to embrace introspection and seek their own truth amidst the chaos of daily life. • Yoga Feelings On My Vintage Jacket
    Located in Ibadan, Oyo
Alagbe's artwork draws attention to the man's jacket, which showcases his bare chest. The jacket, reminiscent of a vintage style, represents the layers we often wear to shield ourselves from the world. By revealing his bare chest, the man symbolizes a willingness to be vulnerable and open to self-exploration. The jacket becomes a canvas for introspection, encouraging viewers to reflect on their own inner journeys toward peace and self-discovery. The quote by Geshe Kelsang Gyatso, "We all wish for world peace, but world peace will never be achieved unless we first establish peace within our own minds," resonates deeply with Alagbe's artwork. It highlights the idea that true peace cannot be attained externally unless we find serenity within ourselves. The artwork invites viewers to examine their own inner landscape and cultivate a sense of harmony, balance, and compassion toward themselves and others. Embedded within the artwork is another profound quote, this time from The Bhagavad Gita...

  • Neglected Stone
    Located in Ibadan, Oyo
"Neglected Stone" serves as a poignant metaphor for the potential found within damaged individuals who emerge from underprivileged backgrounds to shine as stars in society. The young man in the artwork embodies the spirit of those who have faced adversity, yet refused to be defined by it. Just as a neglected stone can become the cornerstone of a grand structure, so too can those who have experienced hardship rise above their circumstances to become pillars of strength and inspiration. The brown hat worn by the young man symbolizes the trials and struggles he has encountered throughout his life. It represents the weight of his past, the challenges that threatened to overshadow his potential. However, the hat also serves as a testament to his resilience—the ability to bear the weight of his history while moving forward with determination. Against the backdrop of a vibrant blue, the artwork accentuates the stark contrast between the young man's journey and the potential that lies ahead. Blue, often associated with serenity and tranquility, represents a world of possibilities and a bright future. The blue background serves as a reminder that even amidst difficulties, hope and opportunity can emerge, paving the way for greatness to shine forth. Adewale's artwork eloquently conveys the message that great beauty and strength can emerge from the depths of misfortune. Just as a diamond is formed under immense pressure, so too can individuals forged in the crucible of hardship display a brilliance that defies all odds. The young man in "Neglected Stone" epitomizes the triumph of the human spirit, illustrating that a resilient heart can overcome even the most adverse circumstances. Moreover, the artwork serves as a poignant admonition to society not to write off anyone passing through hard times as totally useless. It is a call for compassion, understanding, and the acknowledgment that every individual has the potential for greatness, regardless of their past or current circumstances. By showcasing the young man's fortitude and determination, Adewale invites viewers to reflect on their own preconceptions and biases, urging them to see beyond the surface and recognize the inherent worth and potential in every human being. In conclusion, "Neglected Stone" by Busari Adewale...

  • Geobond - Colorful Authentic Urban Map Currency Painting
    By Fabio Coruzzi
    Located in Los Angeles, CA
Italian artist Fabio Coruzzi merges painting and photography into one imaginative image that offers a new outlook on an otherwise ordinary urban scene. His artworks represent an authenticity unlike any other: layered, textural, controversial, open to imagination, colorful, personal, and inspiring. Coruzzi’s work encapsulates not only urban environments, but the inhabitants as well. Irony is laced between figures drawn with an energetic architectural hand. His work is colorful, funny, and biting through resolutely rendered vignettes of people and places. Fabio Coruzzi used acrylic paint, oil pastel, gel ink, and graphite to create this one-of-a-kind artwork on canvas. It is signed by the artist on the back. This colorful 24-inch high by 38-inch wide original painting is stretched, wired, and ready to hang. It does not require framing. Free local Los Angeles delivery. Affordable U.S. and worldwide shipping available. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included. Fabio Coruzzi was born in Foggia, Italy in 1975, and now resides in Southern California, USA. Remarking on his work in conjunction with his perspective on urban environments, Fabio states: "I wish that each painting I make should be like a poem of the place where I've been. I wish to become a poet of our time, like somebody would tell: "I've been there", but telling that my way, telling the audience that, no matter where we are, in a boulevard or in a restaurant, each single place is like an empty box...
