Originally exhibited with Mindy Soloman Gallery: Miami, FL. Genevieve Cohn, hailing from the idyllic landscapes of rural Vermont, has nurtured her artistic journey to fruition. She holds an MFA in Painting, a testament to her dedication and pursuit of excellence, which she earned at Indiana University. Genevieve's commitment to her craft is further underscored by her participation in prestigious residencies at renowned institutions such as The Fiore Art Center, The Vermont Studio Center, The Ragdale Foundation, and AiRGentum. Notably, she stands as the distinguished recipient of the esteemed Hopper Prize, a recognition of her artistic prowess. Her compelling artwork has garnered recognition on both national and international stages, with features in publications such as New American Paintings, Create Magazine, and Art Maze Magazine. Genevieve's creations have found their place in exhibitions held in prominent art hubs, including New York, Boston, Chicago, and Seville, Spain, signifying the global resonance of her artistic expression. Currently, Genevieve Cohn calls Boston, Massachusetts, her home and workspace, where she continues to immerse herself in her creative endeavors, enriching the vibrant tapestry of the city's artistic landscape. "My paintings project possible communities of women by drawing from both a historical and imaginative past, present and future. Utilizing imagery and ideologies drawn from The Woman’s Land Army from World War I and II, female separatist communities, fairy tales and literary fiction, I create constructed communities that exist in a collapsed and unknown time, neither past nor future, but somehow both. These works acknowledge and reflect a world where female power is derived from collaboration, self- endowed agency and connection with the natural world." - Genevieve Cohn
