About the Item
Part of Giancarlo Impiglia's iconic "camouflage" series, in which, deviating from his signature style, he expresses his classical education, flawless technique, and concerns about the modern world. Oil on camouflage.
Born in Rome, Impiglia moved to New York in the ‘70s, where he established a signature style on the shoulders of Futurism and Cubism, his technical skill underpinning his eclecticism and allowing him to indulge in an appetite for complexity. Three publications are dedicated to his work: Giancarlo Impiglia, Paintings for the Queens & Collected Works (2012), The Art of Giancarlo Impiglia (1995), and Giancarlo Impiglia: Recent Work (1982).

Artist Statement: In a way, when I start a painting, it's like starting a journey. A journey that explores my past, philosophy and the human subconscious. My creations in my view are very symbolic. There are many elements in it that have latent meanings, whether collective or personal. They also have a strong philosophical and psychological charge, mainly delving into the subconscious and the dark part that we possess and repress, contrasting it with the pleasant or tender part that we want to simulate. The origin of things has a great meaning in me. This is how my inspiration arises in the world of childhood - as the origin of man - abstract symbols that simulate cells - origin of life -, the wheel - origin of civilization.
