When I painted this piece I was thinking about a return to innocence. There have been times when I've wondered how I became who I am from the child I was. I named it Individuate because our divergence from others via experience is what makes us unique.
About the Artist
United States Army veteran, Gregory Fricker, is a multi-media artist whose artwork explores the neuroscience of storing traumatic memories. Gregory explains that traumatic memories are not stored as narratives but rather as a collection of fragmented sensory information. He began creating art as a hobby and outlet for coping with a particularly challenging deployment. After retiring from the army, he and his family settled in Michigan where he graduated with a BFA in studio art. Encouraged by his friends, teachers, and mentors, Gregory began to see himself as a professional artist. The objects rendered in his artwork are symbolic of his own trauma. He uses “proxy” objects rather than specific depictions of his memories. This creates an emotional buffer against the trauma for Gregory. And, opens the compositions up for interpretation for his viewers.

- Flower Girl, Oil PaintingBy Sherri AldawoodLocated in San Francisco, CA
Artist Comments
Artist Sherri Aldawood paints an ethereal portrait of a woman in white. She depicts her young model, Carley, in classical realism. Flowers daintily adorn the figure's brown wavy hair while golden light shines and illuminates her shawl and bouquet.About the Artist
Sherri Aldawood didn't intend to always paint flowers, but over time her love of gardens started to permeate her art. She focuses on the light and color of the flowers on the canvas. Sherri prefers alla prima, working with wet layers of paint instead of letting them dry. She keeps the paint as wet as possible by using walnut and clove oil to extend the drying time.Words that describe this painting: Joaquin Sorolla, John Singer Sargent, woman, female, girl, figure, figurative, portrait, flowers, floral, sunlight, bright, spring, summer, face, season, garden, outdoor, warm, Dan Gerhartz...
