About the Item

Consone II by Henry Walsh is an original acrylic painting on a 4cm deep canvas that features a supposed busy atmosphere of many people at leisure, but at the same time is sparse. The composition was inspired by images of segregation and connection in parks during lockdown. Henry Walsh’s work begin with snapshots of busy life and by a process of elimination, he refocus’ on the image and on the elements that encapsulate a sober thoughtfulness. Henry Walsh was born 1978 in Norwich, England and spent his childhood in the Suffolk countryside. Henry studied art at Ipswich College in Suffolk, and then Loughborough University in Leicestershire. In 2000 he moved to London to find work that would further his art career and help to maintain his painting. In Spring 2011 Henry and his family moved from London to the High Peak in Derbyshire. Henry is now a freelance artist & designer concentrating more time to his painting. Artist and painter Henry Walsh comments “My work begins with snapshots of busy city life and by a process of elimination I refocus the image on elements that encapsulate a sober thoughtfulness." "Scattered throughout the hustle and bustle of concrete life, like pools among the rocks, are the parks and squares that provide us with a place to breathe and a time to think. It is a fundamental need of a sane society to be able to stop once in a while and wander from the routine, lift our heads and look at the sky or take in our regular surroundings with a fresh insight.” “Sitting on the top deck of a London bus, I let my mind stroll over the lives of the people on the street, they obtain new life stories; I’m placing myself in their shoes and forming a reason for my being in that place at that time, doing whatever they’re doing."

  • "Ribbon" Extra-Large Contemporary Landscape Painting By American Martin Hoffman
    By Martin Hoffman
    Located in Frederiksberg C, DK
Introducing "Ribbon," an extraordinary painting from the "Jersey Meadow Series" by Martin Hoffman in the 1970s. From the 1970s onwards, Hoffman's career showcased a masterful combination of beautiful painting techniques and challenging subject matter. This contemporary painting depicts an abandoned landscape with a hypnotic blue plastic ribbon at its center. Hoffman's landscape creates an almost mesmerizing effect, where the subject matter of destruction and decay is presented poetically. The warm shades of grey with hints of blue, brown, and purple create a limited yet powerful palette that enhances the melancholic beauty of the painting. The painting measures 151cm x 202cm / 59.5in x 79.5in and is signed 'Martin Hoffman' on the reverse side of the canvas. It is titled 'Ribbon' and is dated '73.' Additionally, the artist specifies that the painting is part of the 'Jersey Meadow Series.' It is ready to hang and comes with a silver-painted frame. The condition of the painting is great, with hardly any signs of wear. The frame has a few scratches but is otherwise in good condition. Artist Bio: Martin Hoffman was a versatile artist and illustrator, mostly known for his paintings. He was a self-taught painter and a gifted drummer who had worked as an art director for the Miami News, Graphic Arts Inc., and Steiner & Wall Advertising. In 1973, Martin Hoffman landed his first solo exhibition at the OK Harris...
