About the Item
"Angelos" by Igor Samsonov is an Oil on Canvas painting measuring 58x44 and is a prime colorful example of figurative surrealism at its finest. His deep blue and orange color pallet helps set the mood of the story he is trying to tell. Samsonov’s work is extremely modern, yet remains classical. He draws from Van Gogh and Matisse in his use of color and Vermeer in his use of light. His paintings are rich with symbolism and tell stories--some well-known, others created by Samsonov himself. He is particularly interested in the themes of transformation and power.
Today Samsonov continues in his aspirations to create pure and emotional art: “As I wake up every
morning I just want to paint the most beautiful paintings I can, paintings that will grab people and
alter their feelings. I want to paint situations, stories, feelings, questions; anything that elevates the
viewer’s senses. When I set up the canvas in my studio and start a new story, a new creation, my
main desire is to create the best painting I have painted to date.”
