Born in Fecamp, Seine-Maritime, France, Jean Duranel, self-taught at his beginning studied in the Fine Arts of Rouen and then of Paris. His style work is naive art.He lives and works in France.
This atypical artist defines himself as an amused witness of this world. He chooses our daily scenes and routines as a subject of his drawings. His scenes live in a colorful figuration, unrealistic and devoiced, in its appearance, from the usual logic.
In Duranel’s work, the eye travels instantly, free as the air. The look doesn’t stop and it keeps going all across the canvas, influenced by the persons, animals, landscapes, musical instruments, objects… Every detail seems to give birth to another one which gives you a new vision of the artwork with no limits.
The light and bright colors, are made without research of volume nor material effects. This is the contrast that creates the forms despite the absence of perspective.
These scenes are the result of a true story of the whole world built with harmony and humor and telling, in an art work, all our reality and imagination.
