About the Item

José Luis Florit Rodero (1909-2000) - goyesque scene - watercolor Watercolor measures 42x30 cm. Frame mesures 53x42 cm. José Luis Florit Rodero (Madrid, 1909-Paris, 2000). Draftsman and painter. Trained in Olot and Figueras, he was guided in his early years by Juan Núñez, later studying at the San Fernando School in Madrid, where he later took an engraving course with Esteve Botey. In 1930 he exhibited in Madrid, together with Remedios Varo. He was a founding member of the group Artistas en Acción. In 1933 he obtained a Third Medal at the National Exhibition and in 1935 he exhibited individually at the Museum of Modern and Madrid Art, and participated in the Venice Biennale. In 1936 he obtained a Second Medal in the National and the position of professor of drawing, which is why he moved to Barcelona. After the Civil War, he was appointed artistic director of the "Diario de Barcelona".
