About the Item
The young Dutch artist Lars van Wieren is seen by many as a great talent. We get that!
Through one of our artists we were made aware of Lars' work. We were sold in a second. So young and then making all this work. Fantastic. We made an appointment and drove to Zwolle to see his work. In the beautiful light of his studio, we became even more enthusiastic, if we weren't already. Fortunately, Lars was also about us and this is how a great collaboration has arisen that, as far as we are concerned, will last for many years to come. With 6 paintings we introduce the artist. New work by him will regularly appear in the coming months and, as soon as it is somewhat clear when we can open again, an exhibition with him is planned. That will of course take some time. After all, paintings are not made in the blink of an eye.
"From an apparently everyday starting point, he makes a composition that you like to look at and keep looking at. He always makes clear choices, his touch is accurate, the paint remains 'paint', and because of the suggestion and illusion you are always on the wrong track. His work is and remains, although it always concerns objects that we encounter every day, worth looking at. You always look and you always see something different, something happens that you did not see before".
